Creative Photography Blog by Paul E Williams

I welcome you my blog & articles about creative photos & photography. Since the age of 14 all my life has totally revolved around photography and the moving image. I have lived for creative photography, constantly looking for new ideas. I find the whole process of making photos totally absorbing.

I was lucky to work at the cutting edge of commercial photography for nearly 50 years. I worked with the best creatives in London and throughout Europe. I had some great assistants who made my work possible and great fun. Today I work solely on my own photo art projects in search od great art photos.

A Brief History

Starting young I sold my first photos at the age of 16. By the age of 22 I had my own photography studio in Kensington, London. My specialities were still life and food photography and I undertook commissions for advertising & design agencies, as well as book and magazines publishers. After a few years I moved to Camden where I had 3000 square feet of studio space.

120 % Commitment

Top end commercial photography is a highly competitive industry. You are only as good as your last job and there is no margin for error. Working on high profile photography projects requires 120% concentration and commitment day after day on every job. There is no “second best” or “bad days” at the top of the photography world. To help insure no mistakes I had 2 assistants and a studio manager / agent to make things run smoothly. I always had great assistants and I thank them all for all the great years we worked together.

10 years ago decided to get out of the studio and see some daylight so I converted a Land Rover Defender into an expedition vehicle. Then I headed off into the great blue yonder. Today I only work on my own projects. This keeps me occupied 12 – 14 hours a day, 7 days a week (honest). Some people think I’m a workaholic, but what I do is not working. Work is something you don’t enjoy, therefore I’ve been lucky enough never to have really worked in my life.

In these blogs and articles I try to share some of my experiences and insights and I hope you enjoy my ramblings and thoughts about photography.
