The best Romanesque sculptures to be found on the Romanesque Churches in Europe are in the South of France, Italy, Spain.

Italian Romanesque Sculptures

There are many great Romanesque Cathedrals in Italy decorated with wonderful sculpture. The most popular Romanesque church sculpture were sculpted panels. These can be found over portals and as architectural friezes. Lion statues were popular with side of door entrances.

The best Romanesque sculptures will be found on theses churches and cathedrals.

Byzantine & Eastern Orthodox Sculptures

Sculptural depictions were avoided in the Eastern Orthodox churches so sculpture is restricted to architectural embellishment apart from its use in Ivory Triptychs. This was also true in the Georgian Orthodox churches.

There is very little Romanesque in England with a few exceptions. The best Romanesque Norman sculpture are found at Kilpeck Mary & Davids Parish Church. Somehow these got overlooked during the Reformation and Puritan purges.
