Aldeburgh – Art Photos People Pictures Relaxing Happy By the Sea
Old Aldeburgh is a picturesque historic seaside town. Aldeburgh is built at the back of a wide shingle beach on the dramatic heritage cost of Suffolk, England.
The borough gained port status in 1529 under Henry VIII. In recent times it was made internationally famous by composer Benjamin Britten, who not only lived there. He created a wonderful concert hall and music festival at nearby Snape Maltings. Aldeburgh is a linear town with one of the most interesting row of painted seafront buildings of any English seaside town.
Old Fishing Town Photos
Aldeburgh still has the remains of its fishing fleet which would have been its main source of income before tourism took over. This mix of fisherman’s cottages and Edwardian holiday houses and the constant rhythmic sound of waves crashing onto the shingle beach , gives Aldeburgh its unique flavour.
