Photos of people enjoying a day trip to Traditional Yorkshire shows in 1989 – The pickering monster truck show, Farndale agricultural show and Flamingo land – vintage monotone reportage photos of the simple pleasures of a day out at a show. Before people had holidays the annual day out was the town Show. In rural areas livestock were exhibited by fiercely competitive farmers. Bigger town shows had fairs with fun rides and a beer tent where everyone met. Today such simple pleasures seem a bit antiquated. In Yorkshire though shows are still popular with annual shows in the dales attracting day trippers. I hope you enjoy these photos taken in 1989. Photographer Paul E Williams.
