Redcar is situated on the North Yorkshire Coast of England at the mouth of the River Tees.
As seaside holidays became fashionable in the early 19th century, Redcar’s facilities expanded. By 1841, Redcar had 794 inhabitants. In 1846, work was completed on the Middlesbrough and Redcar Railway which attracted tourism and trade.
