Polaroid Photo Art – Metal Morphosing
“in the late 80s and early 90s I had become interested in the life of objects and, how our perception of them changed. Firstly some objects were prized possessions deteriorating with use to point that that finally were thrown away. One of the unique powers of photography is the bestowing of impotence to anything it photographs.
I wanted to see if I could capture objects at the end of their lives and then give them one last moment of glory. The feeling of change is enhanced by the Solaroid technique I discovered. Firstly the Polaroid morphs from a negative to a solarised negative. Next the drying solarised polaroid image slowly disappears behind a surface of crystals to finally disappear. As I watched the polaroid image change I copied it to make a 5×4 negative. I hope you enjoy the photos”. Paul E Williams.
