“Today every weekend, winters included, Robin Hoods Bay has visitors. I the Summer the picturesque sea side village is over run. In 1990 there were fewer tourists to the North Yorkshire coast, and in the winter Robin Hoods Bay was deserted. This led to the demise of many local shops including Browns, the local newsagent and gift shop.
When I Photographed Browns in 1990 it had been closed for many years and the gift in the window have faded and were covered with dust. Today it has been renovated and is a cafe that thrives on the regenerated tourism of today”. Paul E Williams 2023
