English Surfaces Lymington 2 Photo Prints – A Wonderful Middle Class Mecca?
English Surfaces s is a series of photo exploring England and the English and what makes them want to create a fortress Britain.
Lymington is an old English port which today boasts prestigious and elite Yacht Clubs and their marinas. Walking around the wealthy suburbs of Lymington one is stuck by the absence of other pedestrians. The driveways a full of cars but it feels like some fatal biological weapon has killed all the householders. It feels so deserted.
This is the heart of fortress Britain where the true blue British hide in their bungalow castles, with the draw bridge well and truly up. Living in the North of England I was actually shocked at the middle class bourgeois suberb ghettos of Lymington. There is no sense of community at all.
