Art Photos People Pictures on a One Way Street Venice

One Way Street Venice . Art Photos People Pictures on a One Way Street carrying colourful umbrellas. During 2 of the many visits I have made to Venice I have been soaked. I think the close proximity of the Dolomites and the heat of the Adriatic summers, combine to create thunderous down pours. Having woken to the sound of rain one morning I popped my head out of the hotel window and looked down on colourful umbrellas rushing up and down the narrow street below. As a result this series of photos was born. Photos by photographer Paul E Williams

One Way Streets – Art Photos People Pictures – Colourful Umbrellas Venice

“No matter how old we are, how successful we think we are, whether we think we are famous or a failure the only certainty is that we are on a One Way Street that leads nowhere and ultimately to the grave. We all tramp the same treadmill every day believing that we will go on forever which of course is quite impossible. 95% of us are slaves to a system that enriches 5% of the worlds population who have the same wealth of as the rest of us.

This is only a depressing story if we are unaware that the true nature of existence is transitory and in 100 years from now the existence of hardly any of us will be remembered. Once we know this though and recognise these cold facts we can start to un-learn all the things society has taught us to make us good slaves to the system.

We can try to live for today and find a One Way Street that may, if we are lucky, lead to some sort of enlightenment. This One Way Street may not lead to wealth and fame but we can take neither of these things to the grave. George Orwell understood this and One Way Street is a homage to all those that are trying to get off the Merry Go Round of modern life. I hope you enjoy!”. Paul E Williams.
