The 60 metre high rock of Uchisar was first inhabited by the Hittites circa 1100 BC. The Byzantine Romans created the cave castle in the high rock formation housing 1000 soldiers. The underground galleries of Uchisar run 100 meters down underground. As Uchisar is the highest point in the area it gave incredible lookout views across the
Cappadocian plateau.
