A Pannonhalma Castle
Szigliget Castle was built by Favus of Pannonhalma between 1260 and 1262. Favus was a Hungarian clergyman in the 13th century, who served as Abbot of Pannonhalma from 1252 until his death. Pannonhalma is one of the great Christian Medieval Monasteries.
Szigliget Castle Views
The medieval Szigliget Castle is built on top of the 239 meter high hil. From the castle ruins there are beautiful panoramas of Lake Balaton and to the Tapolca Basin. Poets sang of the beauty of the village and the landscape around it.
Avas church ruins at Szigliget was built in the Árpád era in the 12th century. Only the ruins of its old bell tower stand today.
