“Around 1990 I took an autumnal woodland walk to collect leaves. Firstly, as I started laying the leaves out, I was surprised to find that I could make the shapes of butterflies, moths, and dragonflies. I then felt that their shadows would make a good series of Solaroids. The solarising technique and surface texture of Solaroids combined to give these images their coherence. I hope you enjoy them”.
