Facades tourist places art photo – The Faded Beauty of the Old Shop Fronts of Hungary
There is only a point to travelling if it affords the traveller with new unfamiliar experiences. For a photographer the paramount is to experience new visual experiences. In 2007 Hungarian shopping centres were sensory overload to western eyes.
No familiar brands and indeed no familiar design style. Under Soviet style beuarocratic communism the the importance of branding and graphic design was irrelevant. I haven’t returned to Hungary for 10 years, so I imagine the style of shops in my photos has gone. Part of me hopes things look the same as they did in 2007 but its very unlikely in our global village. Photo art prints by photographer Paul E Williams
