2022 saw the celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II 70 years on the throne. With the yoke of COVID restrictions over Castleton dusted of its nationalist tendencies and partied. 2023 saw the death of Elizabeth Windsor and what will almost certainly be the start of a slow decline of the Monarchy. The perspective of what being British is has has change forever.
This second Elizabethan age will be see as a special period when the myths of Britain being spacial and unique were created and percolated into the national consciousness. The truth is Britain is not any more special than any other culture on this planet. We are part of an International community and the wonderful opportunities of Brexit and Fortress Britain are four the elite and financial sector at everyone else’s expense.
